Can we stop dying, just for a day?

A brief commentary on what's happening in the world:

All these accidents (Metrolink, Blue Line, DJ AM/Travis Barker's jet) have been making me sick. Along with that: Hurricane Ike, China's poisonous milk formula that's made 6,000 babies sick, USC shooting, etc etc etc. I know, Debbie Downer, but seriously, either I've just starting tuning into the news or there's been an influx in tragedy lately. Oh yeah, and our stock market had a meltdown and Federal Reserve just "had" to give them trillions of dollars... Plus you know, the usual - global poverty, human trafficking, corrupt governments. The world sucks.

On some positive news (TV = escape), I gotta say, Tina Fey - 1, Sarah Palin - 0.

And these next few weeks are looking awesome. The Office, Lipstick Jungle (I watch for Lindsay Price, gotta support my Asians), Project Runway (the season is almost over!), Ugly Betty (hello, Lilo and Sandwich Guy), Grey's Anatomy. I'm already watching the new seasons of Prison Break, Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill (the last episode made me cry like a stupid pansy). And Emmys! TV = meaning.

I'm still trudging along on my paper, getting closer to finishing. I'm trying to take it one question, one story, one thought at a time. Nevertheless, the task remains daunting. These papers are massive in nature. And I am at 43 pages and counting! This is the most I have ever written and I average between 5-10 pages each writing session. I'm taking a break right now but will most likely return tonight to write again. I need to get as much done as possible so I can enjoy all the red carpet and golden Emmy goodness tomorrow night. I want Heidi Klum to adopt me.

I cut my hair again. I had too much Rockstar Passion Fruit (delicious, btw) and was noticing it's grown in the past two months since the last cut, well duh. But it was growing weird, probably due to my amateur skills.

I hate my new job. Okay, I'm being melodramatic. I do it for the commute (or the total lack of). It's just, I am not that into junior highers. There are a few favorites among the batch of crazies. But they're mostly into Twilight. Should I start reading those books? Some of my really good college/post-college friends are obsessed with them. But I would be reading it for my kids. Oh, the things I am willing to consider to befriend them.

Doing your homework first so that you get to watch TV later on is so Jr High. :)
